About Richard O’Hamill
In 2008, I underwent life-changing surgery that left me with an ostomy—and a decision: I could shrink my life to fit my circumstances, or I could find a better way forward.
I chose to keep moving.
As a martial artist, athlete, fire performer, entrepreneur, and longtime Crohn’s survivor, I wanted more than a medical accessory. I wanted support that would allow me to move confidently, stay active, and live without constantly thinking about my ostomy.
That challenge ultimately became a mission.
Richard O’Hamill is the inventor and founder of Stealth Belt, Inc. Following the sale of Stealth Belt and the assignment of his patent rights to Stealth Belt, Richard founded a new business, O’Hamill Inc., focused on the development and marketing of innovative ostomy support products. HIRO is O’Hamill Inc.’s brand, built on that same mission.
Today, that mission continues through the HIRO Performance Ostomy Support Belt: helping people with ostomies reclaim confidence, movement, and freedom.
My work is shaped by nearly two decades of living with an ostomy, listening to the ostomy community, and learning what people need to feel secure enough to get back to the things they love.
Because life with an ostomy shouldn't be about limitations. It should be about finding the confidence to move forward.
Freedom. Confidence. Life Without Limits.
